Things to Do Beyond the Convention District
Curiosity is always rewarded in Salt Lake. Venture beyond downtown and open your imagination to an intriguing array of options found in 18 unique neighborhoods and mountain settings. The list includes golf courses, museums and parks. Hundreds more restaurants and bars. A zoo, a pioneer village, aviary and aquarium. Plus numerous admission-free historical and cultural attractions. And of course, Salt Lake’s four world-class mountain resorts: Alta, Brighton, Solitude, and Snowbird.
- Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort, featuring an aerial tram to 11,000 feet, alpine slide, zip lines, mountain coaster, hiking, mountain biking and memorable dining.
- Utah Olympic Park. Visitors can ride the Olympic bobsled, zip line, tour the 2002 Olympic museum and watch Olympic athletes in training.
- Real Salt Lake (major league soccer), Bees (minor league baseball) and Grizzlies (minor league hockey).
- Other attractions: Natural history museum, fine arts museum, arboretum, zoological gardens, and a working replica pioneer village.
- The Great Salt Lake and Antelope Island.
- 21 national parks and monuments within several hours’ drive.
National Parks
With over 60 national and state parks only a few hours away, Salt Lake is the perfect place to begin or unwind from your adventures in the great, wild West. Utah is truly nature's playground, with miles upon miles of diverse and spectacular terrain, including deep forests and craggy peaks, vast deserts and lunar salt flats, red-rock towers and arches, secret slot canyons, and winding rivers.
